Roatan Interest would like to congratulate Steve Parks and Erica Moncada--the lucky winners of the Roatan Interest Real Estate Free Trip Giveaway in 2008. The couple enjoyed 3 nights on the beautiful island of Roatan--part of the Bay Islands, Honduras.  Adventures await--Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, Zip lines through the canopy and tours of the entire island.  Find out what else these winners did while in Roatan and find out how you can be next!  Roatan Beach House - The Bat House Roatan Interest would like to congratulate Steve Parks and Erica Moncada--the lucky winners of the Roatan Interest Real Estate Free Trip Giveaway in 2008. After a short two hour flight from Houston, TX to Roatan International Airport, their guide, Montreal Bob, gave them a brief tour of the western side of the island before dropping them off at their private beach house for the weekend.

Commonly referred to as the Bat House, this beautiful Balinese-style beach house is the perfect weekend getaway. The house sits alone on the beach just a 10 minute walk to West Bay Beach and a 30 minute walk to West End. There is a pier a hundred feet away that visitors can catch water taxis either way. It's nicknamed the Bat House because half a dozen small fruit bats inhabit the breezeway. Don't worry, the bats are completely harmless to humans and they eat insects, so that helps keep the mosquitos away.

Steve Parks and Erica Moncada - 2008 Trip Winners

What did our lucky couple do while visiting Roatan? They spent most of their time in West Bay, a short walk from their house. West Bay offers the best beach in all of Roatan. The sand is dazzling white and so soft on your feet it feels like powder. The water is crystal clear and always the right temperture-even in January! Our couple enjoyed snorkeling right off West Bay Beach. Their first day they saw a myriad of reef fish including schools of Blue Tang, Squirrel Fish, Butterfly Fish, a Rock Fish and a baby Baracuda. You can see almost anything and you don't need a boat--just put your fins on and start swimming.

Their are many restaurants on West Bay as well. Steve and Erica enjoyed $1 beers at the Thirsty Turtle, part of the Bananarama Resort and Bite on the Beach offered up great seafood and there is always a chance to see 6 foot long Moray Eels in the shallows while dining here.

Throwing Frisbee with the locals in beautiful West Bay Beach

The next day, Bob gave Steve and Erica a tour of the island. They worked their way from the very western tip all the way past French Harbour, one of the capitals of Roatan. They stopped and looked at a number of real estate properties in Roatan that the couple were interested in. The views from the hilltop houses were absolutely fascinating and who wouldn't love to live right on the beach?

Pristine Bay was the next stop. This is the home of Roatan's first and only 18 hole golf course. The course is designed by Hall of Famer, Pete Dye. Dye has designed courses played on the PGA tours for years including Whistling Straits, Kiawah Island, Waterwood National and TPC Sawgrass. Construction is currently under way and now is a good time to invest in the first homes and properties on Roatan's first golf course--Pristine Bay.

Beautiful view of Roatan

Lunch at The View, a famous restaurant in Roatan, was terrific. Beautiful views are found in every direction as you eat lunch on a patio restaurant high in the hillside.

Roatan offers many other exciting adventures such as water sports, swimming with the dolphins, canopy zip line tours and of course some of the best scuba diving off the second largest reef in the world.
