There are three basic types of residency offered to foreigners:
- The Rentista category for those with a fixed income. The Rentista category is available for individuals who have a permanent monthly income of $2,500 or more such as from a pension, investment or rental income.
- The Investor category, which is available for individuals who are investing $50,000 or more in Honduras.
- The Special Permanency Permit category, which applies to many categories that used to be under regular Residency, and actually has most of the same benefits.
